About

The HKS Student Policy Review

Harvard students are at the forefront of shaping solutions to pressing problems. The HKS Student Policy Review empowers them to share their policy research, insights, and opinions.

The student publications program was founded at the Kennedy School in 1985 with The Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy. From 1985 until 2023, the program expanded to encompass more than a dozen publications focused on a variety of regions, countries, and topics.

Since its inception, the program has offered Harvard students the ability to publish their policy research and opinions as well as the opportunity to learn communication skills applicable to all career paths students might follow.

During the summer of 2023, the Shorenstein Center began building a new platform for the program, called The HKS Student Policy Review. This new platform opened the doors for students to publish on any policy topic, region, or country, including those previously omitted by the student publications program.

Our mission is to:

  • Offer Harvard students a substantive learning experience in media production, audience building, communication techniques, publication, and promotion
  • Provide a platform for students to engage with and offer solutions to the most pressing policy issues of our time

By allowing students to explore different forms of media and communication on an experiential level, we aim to better equip them to navigate the information environment and to lead, both in their professional and personal lives.
